Sant Eustachio Il Caffè

Sant_Eustachio_EspressobarSince 1938, Sant Eustachio has preserved the tradition of good coffee and has always been committed to ensuring its quality. The use of the best Arabica coffee varieties and the special preparation of its Gran Caffè have won over connoisseurs of this delicious black drink.

Basilika_Sant_Eustachio_HirschThe raw coffee is roasted in a wood-fired oven and can be enjoyed either at the counter or at home. All the selected coffee varieties are washed, roasted, and of high quality. They release incomparable aromas and fragrances that are not found on supermarket shelves.

Nowadays, it is no longer enough to buy a coffee with excellent taste and quality. When purchasing a product, it is also important to consider how it is produced and how the entire production chain is managed, all the way to commercialization.

Fair trade coffee roasting

Based on this belief, Sant Eustachio has decided to follow the path of a responsible and supportive market. In recent years, the company has been using fair trade coffee purchased from nonprofit organizations such as the Italian Altromercato.

Espressobar-Sant-Eustachio-heuteBuying a fair trade product means paying the producer a fair price, which is generally higher than the market price. It also means establishing long-term business relationships that allow for the financing of local environmental and social projects. But that's not all. Purchasing fair trade coffee establishes a direct and concrete relationship between the roaster and the producer, which helps both parties improve the quality of the product.

Currently, Sant Eustachio buys fair trade coffee from cooperatives in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Brazil. Thanks to the special care given to the selection of the coffee and, above all, the meticulous hand-processing of this high-quality raw material, Sant' Eustachio is able to offer a unique and incomparable product.

YESTERDAY
Sant' Eustachio Il Caffè is a wood-fired coffee roasting company that has existed since the 1930s. It is located in Rome, in front of the Senate, just a few steps from Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. The shop opened in 1938, and the mosaic floor and interior are still original. The deer symbolizing the brand commemorates the appearance and conversion of Eustace to Christianity. On the square of the same name stands the Basilica of Saint Eustace, where for over a thousand years, instead of a cross, there has been a white deer with a cross between its antlers.

TODAY
The Ricci brothers, Raimondo and Roberto, have been managing Sant' Eustachio Il Caffè since 1999. Under their leadership, not only is the tradition maintained, but the search for a constantly improving coffee blend continues. Additionally, a wide range of products is offered, all based on the now legendary secret Sant' Eustachio coffee blend. The café has six outdoor tables, and inside, there is a wood-fired roasting machine from 1948 that is still in operation today.
